Naked on the Web

Yesterday was CSS Naked Day. Here’s what kylefox.ca looks like naked. The sparse content makes it degrade that much nicer…

Me naked

If you’re not familiar with CSS Naked Day, it’s basically a day where web developers strip all the visual styles from their site in order to demonstrate how awesome* their XHTML is. One of the mantras of web standards is that a website’s content should be accessible even without a pretty visual design, and, similarly, that the content contains no presentational elements (background images, tables for layouts, blinks & marquees etc). It’s always interesting to see how other people’s sites degrade, and it’s a good yearly reminder to check how well your own site degrades.

* Awesome = Semantic, well-formed, yada yada…
